The Defense Targets MBT is a portable, rifle-rated bullet trap engineered with input from professional end users who push equipment to the limit every day. Built to safely capture rounds at close distances, it reduces ricochet and splatter risk while extending the life of shoot houses, indoor ranges, and tactical training environments.
Rated up to NIJ Level 8 (7.62mm FMJ) and Level 7 (5.56mm at 3383 FPS), the MBT combines a large 24″ × 36″ target face, a 2″ thick ballistic rubber cover, and an SR‑500 steel back plate in a modular, mobile package that is easy to move, maintain, and keep in service.

Safe, Close-Range Rifle Work
The MBT is purpose-built for close-range rifle and carbine work where traditional berms and backers are not enough. The ballistic rubber face captures impact energy and fragments, while the SR‑500 back plate stops the round and the air gap design helps control spall and energy, reducing risk to shooters and structures.
Integrated Lead & Splatter Management
An integrated capture tray collects lead dust, splatter, and bullet jackets as they migrate down the face of the trap. That makes cleanup and lead management more controlled and helps keep shoot houses and indoor facilities cleaner and easier to maintain over time.
Solid Vulcanized Rubber, Not Granule Filler
The MBT uses a solid vulcanized ballistic rubber face rather than glued granule fill, providing more consistent performance, better longevity, and no loose media to spill or shift. With no exposed hardware on the face, shooters can train across the entire 24″ × 36″ area without worrying about unintended strikes on bolts or fasteners.
Replaceable Components & Modular Design
Both the ballistic rubber face and the SR‑500 back plate are serviceable components that can be replaced when worn, extending the life of the system. A modular frame and stand design make the MBT easy to disassemble, reposition, or reconfigure as training needs and facilities evolve.
